Happy 1st Birthday, AWWY!

7 Dec

That’s right, today is my “One Year Blog-iversarry!!!”

While one year is huge milestone on it’s own, I feel especially proud because I cannot remember ever starting a project and continuing with it for more than a few months! And what started out as a way to document the planning of my wedding, has turned into so much more! This blog has opened up the creative floodgates and, now, I’m doing things that I never thought I would.

The best part? There is so much more to come and I can’t wait to share it with you!

Book of the Month? + My First Giveaway (CLOSED)

5 Oct

I really love to read. But more than I love to read, I love to buy books. And I don’t go by that saying “don’t judge a book by it’s cover”. I judge. I love colorful covers and clever titles. Admit it, it matters. So, how about starting a book of the month gig? It could be cool. If you have the chance, read the book suggested and let me know what you think. ๐Ÿ˜€

A book that I’ve loved for a long time but recently picked back up is I Like You: Hospitality Under the Influence by Amy Sedaris. The book is advertised as her take on hospitality and party throwing, but you get so much more than that. Amy Sedaris is a hilarious writer who’s words may be considered offensive in a different context, but in this book?? You can’t help but laugh out loud. Because with your need for new recipes to prepare for the “old people” who may be visiting, chances are (in Amy’s world) that you’ll also need some advice on personal hygiene, rabbit care and, of course, what not to say to someone who is mourning over a lost loved one (such as, “You’ll meet someone new, speaking of which, I know this guy who works at the Wax and Wicker. He’s got a green card!!”). But don’t worry, all of the recipes in the book are real, not jokes. So have no fear when trying out the “I Remember the War Cube Steak” or “Vulgar BBQ Sauce”.

And for the first time, I’ll be doing a giveaway of this book!!! Absolutely free! (Imagine that). Soooo, all you have to do to be entered is be a follower to this blog, “Like” Are We Wed Yet? on Facebook, and leave a comment saying you’d like to be entered. At the end, I’ll pick a random commenter to win and I will ship you your prize. How easy can it be?

The winner will be announced on October 15, 2010. Good luck!!!
